Summer bus excursion tour "Tersky Coast" on the Kola Peninsula

Start and end point is Rovaniemi Finland.

 

Immerse yourself in this ancient world of mystic artefacts and rich traditions. Walk through the village with its old-style houses; handle delightful crafts; and witness - or participate in - plays and old dances. Visit the Museum of History of the White Sea Dwellers. And in the sunny evening enjoy a traditional Pomor meal cooked over an open fire.

Bus excursion tour description:
Day 1: At 08.00 start from Rovaniemi. Lunch on halfway in military village Alakurtti. Arrive in Kandalaksha and hotel check-in.
In afternoon boat excursion on the Kanda Bay to one of the mystic artefacts of the area; an ancient stone Labyrinth 'Babylon'. dated 2000 years before our era. The environs of the labyrinth are quite stunning, consisting of islands, sand beaches and pine forests. It is possible to watch seals and sometimes white whales (beluga's) in the bay.
In evening a Russian restaurant awaits with drinks, a good meal and fine music. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2:After breakfast drive to old fishing village and Centre of the Pomor Culture:Umba, where we walk through Old Umba with the old style wooden houses; visit the Pomorsky Museum to learn more about the Pomors and their fishing techniques with huge rowing boats called ‘Barkas’; visit the craft shops to see the lovely crafts made from the materials which are so generously provided by the northern; visit a  performance by the Pomor Folk Ensemble to listen to songs and watch dances that were composed by their ancestors. In later afternoon a Russian Shashlyk dinner. Return to Kandalaksha hotel in the evening.

Day 3:In the morning leave for the border at Salla. Lunch on halfway in Alakurtti. Arrive in Rovaniemi late afternoon.
